Orchha, located in the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh was founded in the 15th century by the Bundela Chief, Rudra Pratap Singh, who also built the Fort of Orchha. The town was established on the river Betwa as the seat of a former princely state of central India, in the Bundelkhand region.
